About Me …
Hi, I’m Lu! I’m 36 years old and live with my Husband Rob and Daughter Erin (and our guinea pig, Fig) in the West Midlands near the border of Staffordshire.
Erin is my biggest cheerleader and she even tries to buy my makes with her pocket money!
I started ‘Mama Lu Makes’ in February 2022. After teaching myself macrame in lockdown, I decided to make a few presents for friends and then my daughters teachers. The feedback I received gave me the confidence I needed to launch my little business. Macrame has been a wonderful outlet and way to force me to make time for myself. This has been amazing for my mental health, which has taken a bit of a bashing since become a Mama.
I love making custom items; it’s always a challenge trying new things. I use 100% cotton cord and buy UK made products from small businesses as much as possible. I use recyclable packing and no plastic, helping my business to be as eco-friendly as it can.
I work part time Monday to Friday in a secondary school, which I love and gives me the freedom to spend the holidays with my daughter. So my small business is run from our box room generally between the hours of 8pm and midnight!!

Thanks for stopping by – hopefully you will find something you like! xx
